Something resonates inside me when studying descriptions of personality disorders in my notes.
Its not good...

We had our very last lecture of uni more than 2 weeks ago.. before we went for our IMH posting.
Well last lecture if we're not going for the Honours year anyway.
Currently we're having our reading week before our last examination next wednesday.

Guess what Susan asked me on Wednesday about 3 days ago.
Susan: Qian, do we have lectures on monday and tuesday next week?
Qian: No..
Susan: YAY! (seeming too excited. abnormal ball.)
Qian: Har why you asking this? We had our last lecture on Friday 12 March 2010.
Susan: IS IT! WOOHOO~

Si mi sai.

Anyways. I think Carl Barron is too funny. Here are my favorites.

It takes time to get used to his accent and understand his words sometimes..
But watch it 10 times if its what it takes.
haha.

"10 is the new fetus."

"Well i put my foot like that and he put his foot like that..."

Fifi a dog in one of the jokes he told before.

There are 22 parts in this act~ woohoo for us!

I must have been mad to drink 2 large glasses of fluids before I went to sleep last night.
I should have known better that my little bladder will wake me up 4 times in the night and cause poor sleep :(
Its 6am now I have to leave for work in ten mins.
I can't wait to go to work! 3 more days to the end of attachment at wood bridge! woohoo~

Sometimes its so difficult to like patients whom nurses can't communicate with.
Screaming, attempting to kick nurses, asking nurses to "say ok", knocking her own head on the rail of the bed etc is not helping us to understand her.
But I think its really important to try to find good points in patients for nurses to like them about.
It helps to hate work less.

Anyway yesterday me and christine was trying and failing to keep a patient's screaming and shouting down by distracting her.

Me and Christine: Can you sing me a song? I like to hear you sing.
Patient: ISTSTTSS.. I finish green beans alreadish.
Me: Listen to me.
Patient: Say ok.
Me: Okay.
Patient: SAY OK.
Me: Okay okay.
Patient: SAY OK LOUDER
Me: OKAY! Are you happy now?
Patient: Yes. (continues incoherent words)

Suddenly the patient started nodding her head rhythmically to the song on the advertisement on TV.
It was just tooooo sweeettttt to see that few moments of sanity.
That 10 seconds was so precious I wish I could save it in a bottle and make it happen on her again and again.
After the advertisement ended she went back to her normal self.

k gotta go. :)

The attachment at IMH is pretty exciting!
So glad that I'm posted to a female ward as it seems to be easier to build a bond with patients.
I'm kind of enjoying my time there partly because the CI allocated work for us to do.

Compared to the previous postings where we kind of floated around aimless and not knowing what to do, I'd prefer this one albeit the extra work and hours we have to spend on top of school assignments.
:S

Anyway. If I'm a patient I'd be so looking forward to having student nurses at my ward!
Just imagine!
Having somebody to ramble on about how I am the Queen of Singapore or Huang Mu Niang Niang and not getting judged by students.
And students like to hear about these things.
woo~

Okay it gets mentally exhausting after the entire day.
We spend a lot of energy trying to decipher what the patients are trying to tell us or even what they are saying because most of them mumble and well you can just imagine how off tangent their thoughts are.
I get confused myself sometimes being so absorbed in the conversation.

i wonder how the psychiatric nurses cope with this day in day out..

Cal's mum is so nice.
She called me early in the morning to ask me if i knew how to go to IMH (cus she works there), smsed me during lunch and showed me where is the exit gate when I left today.

Heard some shocking news today and I'm reallllyyyyy happy :D for ALI!
Yay I wish her happiness! :)

And for the other person with the other shocking news, don't blame yourself for what happened because you couldn't help it and i'm just feeling glad that you came out of it unscathed.
Who knows what that nutter could have done.
Love you.

Sigh only 3 weeks left to do 1 essay 1 project and 1 end of sem exam.
And the CI still wants us to do a case study for this attachment..
Majorly busy.
Must sacrifice Caleb liao.
haha kidding. Love you cal! You're not getting sacrificed!
:D sayang your head
